TReDS & bill discounting vs cash credit cost calculator
When an MSME supplies goods or services on 60 to 120 days credit to a large corporate or PSU, funding that invoice under a traditional Cash Credit (CC) limit locks up 25% to 40% in book-debt margin and charges your MSME interest rate (10.50% to 12.50% p.a.). Discounting the accepted invoice on an RBI-regulated TReDS exchange (RXIL, M1xchange, Invoicemart) prices the discounting at the corporate buyer's credit rating (often 7.75% to 9.25% p.a.) without recourse and unlocks nearly 100% of the invoice value on T+1.

How this is calculated
TReDS Discount = Invoice × Rate % × (Days ÷ 365)
Platform Fee (incl. GST) = Invoice × Fee % × (Days ÷ 365) × 1.18
Extra Liquidity vs CC = Net TReDS Payout − [Invoice × (1 − CC Margin %)]
- Day-1 Disbursal: Deducts pro-rata discount interest and platform fee (with 18% GST) for the exact tenor in days (365-day year basis).
- Effective Annualised Yield: Computes
(Total Cost ÷ Net Payout) × (365 ÷ Days)because discount is deducted upfront. - Liquidity & Cost Comparison: Compares TReDS against the interest cost of funding the same invoice for the same number of days under a Cash Credit facility with a 25% book-debt margin.

Questions people ask
Why is TReDS discounting cheaper than an MSME's own Cash Credit rate?
Because on TReDS, once the corporate or PSU buyer accepts the invoice (Factoring Unit), participating banks bid against the buyer's credit risk rather than the MSME seller's balance sheet, bringing rates down to 7.75%–9.25% p.a. without recourse to the MSME.
How much additional liquidity does TReDS unlock compared to Cash Credit?
A Cash Credit line typically applies a 25% to 40% margin on book debts, meaning a ₹50 lakh invoice gives only ₹30 lakh to ₹37.50 lakh in Drawing Power. TReDS disburses 100% of the invoice minus upfront discount interest and platform fee.
Is GST applicable on TReDS discounting interest?
Discounting interest on invoices is exempt from GST as a financial interest charge, whereas the TReDS platform transaction fee attracts 18% GST.
Waiting 60 to 120 days for corporate or PSU receivables?
We help MSMEs set up bill discounting, LC discounting, dealer channel finance and Cash Credit limits across leading banks and NBFCs.
TReDS bid rates depend on the corporate buyer's credit rating and financier bids on RXIL, M1xchange or Invoicemart. Lenders, regulators and government offices apply their own rules and may round or calculate differently; their figures prevail. Biz Corp Solutions arranges funding through partner banks, NBFCs and financial institutions, and lenders decide sanction, rates and terms. Last reviewed 23 October 2026.
